In order to achieve the best look possible, look for a wig that accentuates your face. You may find one with the hairstyle that you like, but looks awkward on you. Consider factors like the shape of your face, the hair color you want and hair length.
Secure your hair so it doesn’t show on your wig. Make sure there are no baby hairs showing, especially if your wearing a wig that has a different color from your real hair. Be sure to keep your hair flat on your head.

Cover your hair to make sure no hair peeks out of the wig. You may use a pantyhose for this. Cut the foot part of the pantyhose and slip it on. This will also prevent the wig from slipping off your head. You may also use a hair net or buy yourself a wig cap.
Smooth out any lumps on the wig cap or pantyhose. Your hair should be flat on your head as much as possible.
Determine the front and back part of the wig. With long hair lengths, this is going to be easy, but for bob cuts or short wigs, you might be confused with the front and back part.
Using your 2 hands, stretch the wig on the head part and place it over your head. Position the wig carefully so you don’t accidentally move your wig cap.
Hide the seam. To hide the front seam, take out a few strands of your real hair and comb it back. This would be perfect if the color of your wig is the same as your real hair color. If your wig has bangs, you won’t have any problems hiding the seam. If it doesn’t and the seam bothers you, you may try coloring the seam.
Secure the wig using bobby pins.
