How to Wear a Neck Scarf
Posted on July 20th, 2009 by CarmeliaWith the latest trends of fashion coming and going, it’s understandable that the neck scarf is making a comeback. Getting a nice neck scarf is a great accessory to spruce up your outfit. Here are the different ways you can wear it.
European Wrap
- Fold the scarf in half along its width. Have the two loose ends in your right hand and the fold in the left.
- Put it over your head and have the center rest against your nape.
- Pull the loose ends into the loop between the fold.
- Pull the loose ends to make the folded part go tighter against your neck.
- You now have a very sophisticated and neat-looking scarf working for you.
Head Band
- A neck scarf can make for a surprisingly good headband. Simply fold the scarf into a triangle and tie the two ends together under your chin.
- Paired with a pair of sunglasses, a nice neat outfit, you’ll have a really classy and clean look.
Quick Toss
- Fold the scarf over your nape, making the two ends are level to each other.
- Take one end of the scarf and throw it over your shoulder. It makes for a great casual look.
Rosette Knot
- Fold the scarf lengthwise, twice or thrice over, depending on the desired thickness.
- Fold the scarf over your neck so that the middle part is resting against your nape.
- Twist both ends of the scarf until the whole scarf is twisted into one long rope.
- When you’ve twisted the scarf fully, allow it to create a small twist at the neck, wrapping it around itself to create the rosette.
- Tuck the scarf ends behind and under to keep it in place.
- Pull the ends back out.
Ascot
- This fold will only work on square silk scarves.
- Fold it along the bias and place around your neck, flipping the ends over each other.
- Have the ends tucked into the shirt or loose.
- This will work especially well with blazers or with a preppy getup.
Neckerchief
- Like the ascot, you can only use this on small square silk scarves.
- Fold the scarf on the bias, wrapping it around your neck.
- The the two ends in a simple knot.
Wrap
- The wrap works great if you don’t really feel like fiddling around with your scarf. This works best with oversize square or rectangular scarves.
- Place it around your shoulders, with each scarf end over the other. Alternatively, you can have the ends thrown behind your back.
