Hulu is an increasingly popular online channel that provides high-quality videos and even episodes of your favorite television shows. However, Hulu is typically available in the US only, and won’t even extend to Canada! (For more information on Canada, see Canada: Wealth of the North) Here’s how to remedy this little problem in a jiffy.

Hotspot Shield

The most popular device now is the Hotspot Shield, which is a cross-program (which means it can be used for any type of OS) that shields your real IP and substitutes an American IP instead via the Virtual Private Network or VPN.

Once you’ve downloaded the Hotspot Shield (found here). You can then install the program in your computer. Many users have vouched for this program, so don’t worry. Once installed, the HS will then open a new tab in your web browser with a green button that will allow you to access your new IP.

Once the VPN IP indicated on top of the browser turns green, you can then type in Hulu.com and enjoy their videos.

However, Hulu.com has recently been detecting IPs generated by HS and has taken measures to block their services. Here’s what else you can do.

Ultrasurf Version 8

Ultrasurf works pretty much the same way HS does, only that it’s completely browser-based, so you’ll have to use the Firefox plugin or Internet Explorer to be able to use it. No installation required, and it doesn’t have ads either. However, this can be quite slow. The hallmark of Ultrasurf is that you can use it with HS. Using these two together by accessing HS and then going on the Ultrasurf can help evade the HS block that Hulu has set up.

Witopia

Witopia is a paid VPN which will cost you around $40 annually. Since it’s paid, it’s one of the more reliable VPN services around. Witopia works with PC, Mac and XP OS’s. There’s also a 30-day money back guarantee so you can check out the services and see if this works for you. For more information regarding this article, read VPN and VPN Security
