Many people who have multiple audiovisual gear, but don’t have enough outputs to connect them all, require cable splitters, This is a handy electronic accessory that allows you to use a single coaxial cable unit, then split it for connecting to more electronic pieces or other rooms. A cable splitter is easy to use because the connections are standardized. All you need to know is how to use and install it.

What You’ll Need:

  • Cable splitter
  • Electronic gear (TV, PC, or even satellite dish)
  • Small wrench

Procedure:

  1. Find a spot in the cable system where you want to install the splitter. For routing cable to various locations around the house, but coming from one source, you can check the outside of your home. You’ll find an in-line junction in the cable that goes in the home. 3. The in-line junction connects to the outside cable to the cable leading to your home. Just install the splitter in the house, by the electronic gear. Find the cable that you’ll be splitting, the one connected in your existing gear.
  4. Disconnect your cable from the outside junction or your electronic system. Check the cable splitter and find out which cable connections are labeled “In” and “Out”.
  5. The cable that comes in your house or gear should be connected to the cable splitter’s “In” connection. This is easy to do; just insert the cable’s bare wire in the jack, then twist the exterior part of the plug to the right, so it will be screwed on the jack. Use a small wrench to tighten the plug on the jack.
  6. Connect the output cables to the splitter, the same way you did before, then connect them to the other electronic gear you want to connect to the cable.

A cable splitter will save you and your electronics from a lot of trouble. Follow these easy steps to use this handy gadget.
