How to Track Your Stimulus Check
Posted on May 20th, 2009 by PaulAt the height of the global crisis, the US intends to revive their economy by giving out funds to the citizens. These funds come in the form of stimulus checks, which are sent to the people’s bank accounts. Have you gotten yours? Better track your stimulus check and see if you have already earned your part in averting recession.
Check if You’re Receiving a Paper Check
Not all people will receive the stimulus check in their bank balances. There are factors that make the transaction pretty impossible. If any of these apply to you, you will receive the stimulus check in the form of a paper check:
- did a rapid refund recently
- if you had the transmission fees omitted from the refund value
- if an accountant or any tax officer has removed their fees from the refund value
- the refund value is spread in multiple accounts
- no active bank account
In case you’ll receive a paper check, it might be a little delayed as compared to those who will get the funds in their bank accounts.
Go to the IRS Website
In the IRS website, there is a section dedicated for tracking stimulus checks. You need to input your social security number, filing status, and the number of your tax exemptions, before the tracking information is released. If you have trouble determining the information asked for by the page, there is a Help section, which explains each of the requirements in detail. The service is free of charge. For more information, you can visit the IRS tracking page at https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRACTC.
Call the IRS
For those who don’t have access to the internet, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-4477. You should be ready with the same requirements asked for by the IRS website, since the agent will ask for them.
Tracking the stimulation check is not a problem, given the options provided by the IRS. Just visit their website to see the its status. If the refund fails to arrive at the expected time, inform the IRS, so they can quickly take action.
