How to Stretch Your Ears
Posted on September 28th, 2009 by CarmeliaStretching your ears is a trend that many people are embracing these days. However, to stretch your ears properly, you’ll need patience, time and even a little bit of restraint. Here’s how you can stretch your ears without exposing yourself to harm or infection.
Tools
- Earrings or taper
- Vitamin E tablets
- Anti-bacterial earrings
- Cotton balls
- Sea salt
- Water-based lubricant
- Distilled water
Procedure
- Before starting, you must have pierced ears that have fully healed first. Otherwise, you need to have them properly pierced even before you contemplate on stretching your ears.
- When you get your ears pierced, you usually get earring with an 18 or 20 gauge needle. Before you attempt to put one in that’s a larger size, you have to make sure that your last piercing has been completely healed.
- Once you’re ready, the next step is to get earrings that are the next gauge needle size. For example, if the starter earrings have an 18 gauge needle, you need to get a 20 gauge needle to coax your ear to stretch out further.
- Clean your hands thoroughly before touching your ears. Soak your ear in warm water for a few minutes using a water-soaked cotton ball and massage it with your fingers.
- After massaging your earlobes, wash them thoroughly using anti-bacterial soap and more warm water. Pat your earlobes dry and apply your water-based lubricant on the front and back portion of your piercing.
- Insert the slightly larger earring into your piercing. Do this slowly and carefully, allowing your piercing to adjust to the larger earring a little at a time. What you don’t want to happen is for your piercing to hurt or to bleed, so exercise a little patience and restraint.
- Repeat the earlier steps on your other ear.
- Keep the slightly bigger earrings in and regularly clean them. Do this by applying anti-bacterial soap where the piercings are and drying them thoroughly by using a clean cotton ball. You can also use a cotton ball to remove crusty flakes.
- You can also disinfect your piercings by soaking it in a mixture a cup of distilled water with a pinch of sea salt. Dry thoroughly.
- Let your ear heal completely. Keep up with your routine of cleaning your piercing. Your ears will need to heal for at least a month, or when you can turn your earrings easily without hurt or discomfort.
- Steadily proceed to bigger gauge needles until you have stretched your ears as far as you can go.
