A home theater is the way to go, when it comes to watching movies at home. Some of the latest technological advancements have made the home viewing experience just as or even more magical than watching blockbuster hits on the big screen. Of course, just like with any gadget, you should have enough cash to purchase all of the home theater’s required components then do the necessary room arrangements.

The Home Theater System

There are many home theater systems on the market, given the stiff competition among all the reputable brands. New models are released every once in a while, so better do some research on the internet. Google up the term “Home theater system reviews” and the page will display hundreds of sites comparing the best systems on the market. Enter some of those found on the first page to match the specs, price, and performance of each system. Once you’ve settled on a system, head to the electronics store and make a purchase.

The Large Flatscreen HDTV

Before, when technology wasn’t too advanced, the projector comes as the obvious choice for home theaters. TVs have eventually caught up and surpassed projectors, in terms of picture quality. Do your home theater system justice by purchasing a large flatscreen HDTV. The images appearing on-screen are ultra crisp and clear. If you hook it up to the home theater system, the sound quality is simply mind boggling, especially with the surround sound speakers distributed in strategic areas of your room.

Hook Up the TV to the System

Hooking up the TV to the home theater system is as simple as reading the instruction manual. Set the TV at one end of your room, preferrably away from other furnishings. Place the A/V receiver and the main speakers close by. As for the smaller surround sound speakers, set them by the ceiling behind your couch. Each of the speakers have cables that you will connect to the A/V receiver. You can connect the receiver to the TV through a cable bearing three color coded heads - yellow is for video while the red and the white are both for audio. Just match the colors of the plugs and the ports of both devices. Once everything is connected, test the system. Make the necessary adjustments, if necessary.

Lights and Curtains

What’s the use of an advanced theater system, if the room makes the setup look tacky? You might as well create the feel of a movie theater in your room. Purchase and install thick curtains for the windows, so light can’t enter your room while you’re watching. The curtains will provide the cinematic vibe of your home theater. Install adjustable lights on strategic parts of your ceiling to add some drama to the setup.

Movie Theaters are so Last Year

When all the components of your home theater are in place, you can forget about going to the movie theater. Just pop in your favorite flick, preferrably in Blue Ray format, and you’ll get blown away by the entire experience. Don’t forget the popcorn.
