Over the years, the popularity of ebooks has grown significantly.  More and more people download or purchase ebooks to fill their need for knowledge and entertainment.  As the saying goes, everyone has a story to tell.  So you might as well bank on the virtual reading material’s popularity and make your own.  You can satisfy your target audience and at the same time, make money from the whole thing.  Just apply proper selling.

Step 1: Write an Ebook Series

Instead of jumping from one subject to another, you can write about a particular topic or story, but divide into several different parts, better yet, turn it to a series.  The last part of every ebook in the series, save the last one, should have a portion which serves as a teaser for the next chapter.  That way, people will be excited about your upcoming releases.  Make sure every issue is well written, especially the first one, so you can later earn a reputation among ebook readers.

Step 2: Domain and Hosting

Selling your ebook through your own site is your most logical option, since ebook sites either toss them out for free or run your profits down with expensive monthly charges.  Purchase webspace, which will be turned into a site that distributes and markets your material.  Once you have a site and a domain name, store your ebook series in the server.  Release the parts of the series one after the other, so people will long for them, earning you some customer loyalty.  You should also make the site’s layout look stellar as well as the covers of your releases to attract more readers.

Step 3: Online Payments

Payments won’t be a problem online, as sites like Paypal take care of the payment deliveries.  Create a Paypal account and link it to your credit card.  Once done, place an online payment feature for your website.  Think of a competitive price for each part of the series then post them on your site.  Keep the series locked, except for those who will buy/subscribe.

Step 4: Marketing

In selling, marketing plays a big role in the commercial success of products, including ebooks.  Write a primer or an incomplete version of your series’ initial chapter.  It will be distributed for free, so people will know that your series exists and it has quality.  Cross-link with other ebook sites to get more viewership.  You can also ask a copywriter to pose as a book reviewer.  He or she will then create a biased review, which will be posted on a site that reviews ebooks.

With the whole strategy in place, your ebook may eventually make it to every reader’s wishlist.  Continue working on your writing, so you can attract more followers, based on your merits as a writer.
