The internet is a great resource for pictures. The photos, used to depict website themes or uploads for picture and social networking sites, can be stored in your computer. There are several options to download pictures and all of them are easy. You can probably compile a handful in just a few minutes.

The Default Procedure

When you see a picture you like, you can save it on your computer using only your mouse. Position the cursor on the photo and press the right mouse button, which pulls up a small menu. Click “Save as.” Select the location where the photo is to be saved then hit on “OK.” The picture is now stored on your computer. You can view it or attach it to a document.

Drag and Drop

Some websites disable the mouse’s right-click function to prevent the storing of images. In this case, you can still save pictures by dragging and dropping them from the website to your computer. Open a window where you want to store the image (ex. My Documents, My Pictures). Place the cursor on the image and click it. Drag the cursor to the window without letting go of the mouse button. Release the button when the cursor is already inside the window, which automatically stores the image.

Print Screen

If you want to store the entire website’s layout, including the photos and the graphical enhancements, press the CTRL, Shift, PrtSC keys simultaneously. The layout will be stored in the clipboard. You can edit the layout and extract pictures by opening the image on MS Paint or any photo manipulation software.

Page-Saving Software

There are programs, which you can purchase or download, that can capture an entire page, even the parts that you supposedly can’t see. If you want to edit the capture, simply run it rhough a photo manipulation software and make your desired modifications.

Beware of Copyrighted Photos

As you can see, saving pictures is pretty easy. You don’t need to be a techie to do so yourself. Just be careful when using copyrighted photos. It is illegal to place them under your name without permission from their owners.
