How to Re-Enable Task Manager In Windows XP After a Trojan Infection
Posted on July 16th, 2009 by monsterguideYou just got that pesky Trojan off our system by updating your anti-virus. The only problem now is you can’t get the Task manager to run. You’ve tried Control + Alt + Delete, Control + Shift + Esc and none of them seems to work. The right click menu on the task bar shows the task Manager grayed out, and all you get is a error message that says, “Task Manager has been disabled by your Administrator”.Don’t worry, here’s a quick and easy fix to re-enable it.
What You’ll Need:
- PC
- Windows XP
Procedure:
- Hit the Windows key + R to open up the Run window. You can also just click Run in the start menu.
- Type gpedit.msc in the Run window.
- You’ll see the group policy manager window.
- Click on the + sign next to “User Configuration” in the left side panel.
- Now click the + sign next to the “Administrative Templates” option.
- Now click the + sign next to the “System” option.
- Finally, click the Control + Alt + Delete Options option.
- In the right side of the window, you’ll now see a option that says “Remove Task Manager”. Double Click it. The selected option will probably be “Not Configured”, click on “Disabled”, and Click OK.
- Your task manager should be enabled now.
Trojan viruses are annoying, but unavoidable. When they affect your task manager, just follow these tips to return it to normal.
