How to Promote an Event Online
Posted on March 24th, 2009 by PaulLet’s face it, the much ballyhooed “E-Revolution” has already started. Using the internet, you can draw crowds to your event, if you take advantage of your every avenue. Think about the number of people that visit their email accounts and popular websites daily. If you can tap the online market, your event will surely be a success.
The Social Networking Option
Aside from email providers, social networking sites are some of the most visited places online. Many people, mostly teenagers and yuppies, update their profiles daily. If you’re event is catered towards young ones, promoting it on popular social networking sites should be one of your initial options.
Sites like Facebook and Multiply even have features dedicated for events. You can simply post your event on those features. Write a catchy description, an elegant or edgy poster and most importantly, an attention-grabbing title. Send the online invite to all the people on your friends list and encourage them to invite everyone on their friends lists as well. As for sites that don’t have an Event feature, you can post your event on the bulletin board. You can even send links to everyone, via the messaging feature, leading to your site, which explains the event in detail.
Promo Reports
To catch the attention of more people, create a promo for your event. You can market the performers, the significance of the event, the theme, or even the prizes, if you plan to include games. Create an independent section for the promo and the event on your website. Once done, post it as a news report on blogs, Twitter, email, and social networking sites. You can also make deals with popular sites and ask them to place links to your promo.
Apply SEO on your Event Profile
SEO is a means of optimizing a webpage, so it appears first on a related Google search. As you probably know, everyone visits Google. Imagine the number of people who will see your event if it pops out on the first page of a Google search. Create a section on your website dedicated to the event. Hire good writers and web designers to take care of the content and appearance, respectively. Once done, ask the both the writer and the designer to SEO the pages. Do a related Google search and see if your event appears on the first page. If it appears on top of the list, expect a plethora of individuals who will ask about your event.
Let’s All Benefit from the E-Revolution
These three strategies, effective as they are, are quite basic. If you have better promotional plans and schemes, feel free to post them here. The internet may have made the world smaller, but it certainly has provided a truckload of opportunities, especially in online promotions.
