How to Print Business Cards
Posted on July 15th, 2009 by ElaineAny businessman who’s out to market his services or make friends with other professionals needs business cards. You can ask a professional business card maker to design one for you, but if you’re a bit short on the budget, you can easily print out your own cards.
What You’ll Need:
- Computer with printer
- Business details
- Internet
- Image or logo for your business
- Card stock
- Business card maker software
- Word processing program, like Microsoft Word
Procedure:
- Purchase good quality card stock from a crafts store. The color of the cardstock you choose should depend on the type of business you own and its theme. If you’re in the legal or medical business (such as a lawyer or doctor), you might want to choose more solemn hues, like beige, off-white, white or gray. If your business is more casual, you can choose funky, more playful cardstock colors. Just remember to check the material, and make sure it’s suitable for your PC printer.
- Buy ink for your printer. While you’re trying to save money, you might come up with bland or tasteless designs on your cards if you run out of ink.
- Think about your card’s design, as well as the important data you need to put in it. Examples of what you should put are:
- Your complete name
- Position
- Contact numbers (landline, cellphone and fax machine)
- E-mail address
- Name of the business
- Business address
- Business logo
- Business’ website
- Business slogan or motto
- Download a business card maker software application. There are many kinds available on the Internet today. Some can be availed for free, while others require a certain payment. These software applications provide numerous templates and design, making it easier for you. They tell you where to put the information, the images and other design elements. When you’re done inputting all your card details, you can print them out.
- Instead of downloading, there are also business card makers available online. Just follow the template depending on your preferences, then download and save the card you made. You can easily print it afterwards.
- When you print out business cards, always keep an eye on the process.
Think about how you want all of these to be placed in the card. You need to design the card in such a way that it’s informative, but not too cluttered. It’s a good idea to sketch the outcome you want first.
Using A Word Processing Program
Word processing programs, such as Microsoft Word, also have templates that make it easier for people to create business cards. Here’s how to do it using MS Word.
- Open your MS Word. Click on File found at the left hand corner of the Menu, then click on New. A dialog box will open. There will be numerous business card templates available. Choose one that suits your taste, then click OK. If there aren’t any templates, go to the official website of Microsoft, so you can get some.
- The business card with pre-formatted text and graphics will open in Word. You don’t need to change all of them, but just edit one card. The rest will be taken care of later.
- Change the graphic on the template, by right-clicking it. You can simply pick one from the Clip Art gallery or insert your own design from a file. Right click on the image you like, then choose Insert. Your image will now appear on the original graphic’s position in the template. Size it using the guide bars around the card.
- Change the card’s text. Just higlight a card you want to change, then type your new text. You can use the Formatting toolbar to change the Font size, color and type.
- After you’ve input all the necessary changes, highlight the whole card, then choose Copy. Afterwards, highlight the card next to it, then right-click and choose Paste. Repeat for the other cards.
- When all the cards are changed, go to File then save your work. You’re ready to print them out!
The more enticing your business cards are, the more productive and well-known your business will be. With these tactics, you can print yours with a great design and save money at the same time.
