Nintendo Wii’s Rock Band game provides anyone a chance to be a star in their very own rock band. If you want to emulate the likes of The Edge, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton despite having no idea how to play a guitar, this is the game for you. Here’s how to play the guitar in Nintendo Wii’s Rock Band.

  1. Put the guitar strap over your shoulder so that the guitar hangs comfortably from it. Your elbows should be in a comfortable position. You can play standing up or sitting down.

  3. Play the tutorials first to have a real feel of the game at very easy levels.
  4. Choose whether you will play the guitar in the normal mode or a “lefty” mode.
  5. Choose whether you will play bass or rhythm guitar.
  6. Choose a difficulty level. The easy to moderate levels will only make use of the four of the five “frets” on your guitar’s neck. If you’re more up to the challenge, choose difficult, by all means.
  7. Take note of the five colored buttons on the neck of the guitar. Again, these are the “frets” and the game will inform you when to press them. Remember the color and assign each finger to each button, to avoid confusion later on.
  8. Start the game.
  9. Keep your eye on the screen. It will indicate what button to press and what rhythm to follow. The sound will be affected by how you manipulate the guitar. If you’re sounding way off tune, you’re in trouble.
  10. When the screen indicates to press two buttons at once, don’t be confused, just do it!
  11. Tilt your guitar slightly upwards to activate the overdrive.
  12. See the little metal bar jutting out from the body of the guitar? On a real electric guitar, it’s called the whammy bar or tremolo, but in this game it will make your game even more awesome. It literally increases your “star power” and gain you more points. You’ll be cued to use the tremolo when a whole translucent bar passes through the line. Stop using it as soon as this bar disappears.
  13. If you can’t keep up, the game will stop and you will have to try again.
