How to Play the Drums in Rock Band
Posted on June 10th, 2009 by CarmeliaPlaying drums in Nintendo Wii’s Rock Band is a great way to flex those muscles and feel like a real rock star. It also makes for a great stress-reliever. Here’s how to bang those drums the right way when playing Rock Band.
- Put together the drums according to instructions. Plug it into the gaming console.
- Go through a round of practice drumming. This is the best way to get started without embarrassing yourself in front of a bunch of friends. This is also the best way to ensure that the console is absorbing your hits at the right tempo. If you are hitting on the right time but shows up late on the game, you may want to adjust the timing in the game’s Option menu.
- Once the game is properly set up, you can go through the Basics and learn more about what you can do. Intermediate instructions are also good to know, but not necessary.
- Choose a rocker, and start the game.
- Take note of the color of the drums and when to pump the pedal. It can be a little complicated at the start, but you’ll get used to it soon enough.
- Keep an eye out for the pedal drum. It’s indicated by an orange line falling down, and it doesn’t look like the other drum indicators.
- Keep your eyes on the portion of the screen. Colored lines will be “falling” down the screen and you must hit the colored pad once they hit the bottom line. Hit two drum pads at once if indicated.
- If you chose an Easy level, you’ll have to hit lesser notes and with less complicated combinations. Moderate and Difficult will really test your skills!
- When you see a whole translucent bar coming down, you can hit any of the drum pads at random! Do it quickly and do as many varied beats as you can to earn more points.
- Pay attention to the sounds you’re registering in the game. If it doesn’t sound right, your rhythm is probably all wrong. Correct this quickly, because if you don’t gain enough points, your game will end.
