The element of surprise plays a big role in making normal events more exciting  A well-delivered surprise present can turn buddies into loving couples.  A surprise dinner for your boss can earn you merits for an upcoming promotion.  Imagine how a surprise can amplify the impact of an already enjoyable party.  The truth is, if you know how to organize a surprise party, you can give your loved ones something that everyone longs for - an unforgettable moment.

The Plan

A surprise party is quite tricky to execute.  Much planning is necessary so the celebrant won’t suspect that a party is being thrown for him or her.  You have to cover many factors to ensure that the entire event goes  smoothly, even after the surprise has been sprung.  After all, the celebrant’s jubilation is the party’s main point, not the surprise.  So here are the factors you should consider.

  • Location - The location is a critical factor in a surprise party.  It should be conducive to both the celebrant and the guests.  Ideally, the venue should be tied to the celebrant’s interests, but not a place that he or she often visits.  He or she will be excited initially on the way to the party location, since it is practically a new place.  When the surprise has been sprung, that excitement will multiply exponentially.
  • Time and Date - Surprise parties are normally done on weekends and holidays, since you have the entire night to enjoy.  However, if you want something totally unexpected, do the party at an odd day and an odd time.  Just plan it with the celebrant’s boss or professor, so his or her profession won’t suffer in the process.
  • The Cast - Some of the planners and guests must play roles to arrange the party and preserve the surprise.  The celebrant’s frequent companion should distract him or her to avert any attention from the surprise.  A car is necessary to bring the celebrant to the party venue.  A team must be formed to take care of the food and drinks.  Another will be assigned to arrange the place.  Creative individuals will be tasked to create/purchase party accessories like the dedication book, card, or any token that celebrant will surely appreciate.

With the three factors in place, executing the plan will be easy.  Just make sure that everything is organized prior to execution.

Execute Well

A well-executed plan ascertains the success of a surprise party.  Of course, the celebrant will still appreciate your efforts even if he or she learns about the party before its execution, but why settle for anything less than spectacular? Prepare the surprise well and you will be surprised at how the celebrant will value you after.
