Since it’s one of the primary methods of communications today, it’s very annoying when your cellphone suddenly runs out of battery, just when you badly need it. You can’t keep charging or changing your batteries though, so to help you out here are a few tips on how to make your cellphone battery last longer.

What You’ll Need:

Turn Off Your Cellphone

You’re not always expecting a phone call, and there are times when cellphone use isn’t allowed, such as if you’re in the church or on a plane. In these instances, you should just turn off your phone to conserve the battery. You should also do this when you’re in a place with no reception. As your cellphone keeps searching for a signal, the more battery power it uses.

You should also turn off your cellphone while it’s charging. Doing this makes sure your battery becomes loaded with as much power as it can.

Stop Looking For A Signal

While you’re in a place with no signal or poor reception, your phone automatically works to get a better connection, even when you don’t need it to. This consumes power, so to save your battery, just switch off your phone. If you often encounter this situation, and you must get a good signal, you can purchase a cellphone repeater to help you out. A cellphone repeater amplifies signal, and makes sure you get good reception wherever you might be.

Switch Off The Phone’s Backlight And Vibrate

If you can get by without a backlight, switch it off. Some phones also have ambient light sensors, which enables the backlight in dark conditions, and turns it off in bright ones.

The vibrate is another phone feature that uses a considerable amount of battery. If you already have the ringtone working, turn off the vibrate function on the phone. Only use it when your phone is in silent mode. You should also keep the ringtone as low as possible.

Don’t Use Unnecessary Phone Features

With the numerous features your phone has, toying around with them seems like a good idea, but if you know you need to make your battery last longer, don’t use them. Don’t connect to the Internet or use the camera to take photos. Disable the Bluetooth capability if you’re not expecting to receiving anything. Turn off your GPS and WIFI, too.

Prolong Your Battery’s Life

If kept in good condition, batteries work longer and better. Remember these simple tips to take care of your battery and prolong its life.

  • Initialize your new battery. Charge it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Keep it cool. Don’t leave your cellphone battery exposed to high temperatures. If you’re not going to use it store it in a cool, dry place.
  • Charge it properly. Use original chargers instead of imitations. Cheap imitation chargers might cause excessive battery heating.
  • Clean the battery contacts on your phone and on the battery itself, using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.

It’s unnerving when your cellphone battery suddenly dies out on you, but as long as you keep these tips in mind, you’ll never encounter this dilemma.
