Web banners are among the most successful tools for Internet marketing and brand recognition. If you’re creative enough, you can make your own banner without having to go through tedious processes. It’s pretty easy, and here’s how to do it.

What You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Website
  • Paint Shop Pro
  • Images

Procedure:

  1. Make sure you’ve got all the images you need for the banner. It’s also a good idea to sketch the design you want on a scratch paper, before you actually do it on the computer.
  2. Open your Paint Shop Pro program, then click on the New Image icon, found at the top left side. Adjust the image size, making it 60 pixels tall by 468 pixels wide. For most website banner ad graphics, this is the standard dimension used.
  3. Fill the graphic with the color you like for your website. Make sure it matches the site’s theme. To do this, find the bucket tool at the left side toolbar, then choose the appropriate color from the color palette, found at the top right. Click the bucket on the graphic, so it will be filled with the color.
  4. Input the title of the website to the banner ad. Pick the Text button in the left toolbar (the one with the “A” icon), then select the font size and font style from the tool bar at the top. Make sure they match the existing fonts you have on your website.
  5. Choose each letter’s border color, by left clicking in the palette. Then, choose the color of the letter’s inside by right-clicking the palette.
  6. Click anywhere in the graphic banner so a text box will appear. Type the website’s name in the box, then click “Apply”. Use the drag tool to position where you want to place it in the banner.
  7. Put an image or a logo to the banner, matching your site. Simply open the logo graphic file, then copy and paste it on the banner. Do this in the “Edit” menu found at the top of the screen.
  8. Add small text that describe and list the products and benefits of the website business. Just repeat what you did earlier, using the Text tool. Make sure you opt for simpler fonts and smaller font size. Set the “Stroke Width” to 0, so there will be no border.
  9. Make final adjustments, then save your work. Upload it on your website.

Some Tips:

  • Make sure you banner isn’t too empty or too cluttered.
  • You can also use other programs to make a website banner. Adobe Photoshop and Power Point are just a couple of examples.
  • There are also online banner makers available that provide free banner-making services.

A website looks more enticing when it has the right web banner. With these easy tips, making your own won’t be a hassle.
