Scrapbooks can be as original as you make them and can hold the memories of nearly any event in your life. Here’s how to make one of your own.

What You’ll Need:

  • Scrapbook
  • Items to put in the scrapbook

Procedure:

  1. Decide what kind of book you would like it to be. Most people make mainly photo scrapbooks, collecting photos of a particular event or time in their life, but you may also want to include mementos such as tickets, programs or other 2-dimensional items to include in your scrapbook.
  2. Collect all the items you want to put in the book. You can organize the items in many different ways such as chronologically, by size or by a certain category.
  3. For the actual scrapbook, you may go to a craft store and buy a pre-made book and specialty stationary used for scrapbooking. There are tons of options and depending on the subject matter of your scrapbook you have the availability of specialized themed filler paper. A cheaper alternative to this is going to an office supply store and buying a three hole punched binder and a package of construction paper. This option is normally better suited for children as well because it lets them work with materials they are familiar with.
  4. Use glue or double sided tape to secure your photos and mementos to the filler paper. Get as creative as you wish when decorating your scrapbook, using combinations of colors and different size photos on the same page.
  5. To spice things up you can event buy stickers or specialty items that you glue onto the pages to create more of a story with your book. Some people also like to label the photos or add funny captions to the pictures, creating more of a personalized approach.
  6. Another idea is cutting out words or phrases from magazines and gluing them to the pages as further decoration.

When you are finished putting everything together and ordering the pages, enjoy your scrapbook of memories and make sure to show the book to all of your friends. Make sure you store or scrapbook in a cool, dry location so that it may last you as many years as the memories themselves. Enjoy!
