Flash is a very versatile tool that you can use to generate dynamic content.  You’re not only limited to Web content when you use Flash, though; you can also use Flash to make slideshows for corporate presentations or even for special occasions.  Here are some tips and tricks you can use to make your own Flash slideshow.

Why Use Flash?

When one says “slideshow,” people usually think of presentations made in a program like Microsoft PowerPoint.  Programs like PowerPoint are built and designed to make slideshows, but the amount of dynamic content you can make with them is quite limited.

Flash is especially useful for picture slideshows, or for animated and dynamic picture slideshows for websites.  For some people, making and viewing slideshows in Flash is easier than browsing through different slides programmed in PowerPoint.

Tips and Tricks

Assuming you already know the basics and essentials of Flash, here are some tips and tricks that you can use to make your own Flash slideshow:

  • Use an updated Flash program. Instead of a free program, you should use a dedicated Flash programming tool like Flash MX or SWiSH .  A dedicated Flash program gives you a more flexible platform to work with.
  • Watch your keyframes. Transition is very important when making Flash animation, especially if you’re building slideshows.  The keyframes should be spaced in such a way that the viewer can view the most out of every part of the picture.
  • Experiment with effects. Motion tweening, morphing, and fade are some of the most common effects used in Flash because of its simplicity.  Don’t be afraid to test other effects to see if they blend well with your pictures.
  • Orient the images. When importing pictures for your Flash slideshow, it may help to keep the pictures oriented in the same way.  An all-portrait or all-landscape image slideshow is easier to work with, and makes the transition of effects more natural.

Flash is not just for banner ads.  You can use it to generate image slideshows for image content on your personal or business website.  With these tips, you can add a whole new dimension to your Web content with Flash slideshows.
