The banana split is one of the most popular and classic desserts served today. With plenty of flavors mixed in it, it’ll surely delight anyone with a sweet tooth. Everyone know what a banana split is, but do you know how to make one? If not, then here’s a simple guide to help you out.

What You’ll Need:

  • A ripe banana
  • Three different ice cream flavors
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Strawberry syrup
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Diced pineapple chunks
  • Pineapple syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Nuts and/or sprinkles
  • Knife
  • Ice cream scoop
  • A banana boat or a regular bowl

Procedure:

  1. Ready the “banana boat”. If you don’t have this at home, you can just use a regular lengthwise bowl.
  2. banana split

  3. Get a ripe banana. Make sure it doesn’t have any rotten or mushed part. Remove the peel, then use a knife to slice the banana in half, splitting it at the center. Position these two banana splices on the sides of the banana boat.
  4. Use an ice cream scoop to scoop out the ice cream. While using one flavor is all right, three different ones is traditional. Strawberry, chocolate and vanilla will do, but if you want, you can use other flavors, like cookies and cream, pistachio and coffee. Position the three scoops side by side in the middle of the banana boat, between the two banana slices.
  5. Get the syrup. Pour the chocolate syrup over the chocolate ice cream, while the pineapple syrup goes over the vanilla ice cream. Pour the strawberry syrup over the strawberry ice cream. You don’t have to add too much, since you can add more later on.
  6. Get the whipped cream and add a generous amount on top of the ice cream. Add more syrup over the cream. Sprinkle the nuts and sprinkles over the cream.
  7. Add diced pineapple chunks at the ends of the banana boat. Put a maraschino cherry (or more, if you like) in the middle of the whipped cream.
  8. Get your spoon and indulge in your own creation!
