One of the most common nightmare scenarios include a zombie attack in one’s local town or city. When faced with a rampaging zombie after your blood and guts, what do you do? Kill or be killed, and you definitely don’t want to be dead. Here are the different ways you can kill a zombie.

Bare Limbs

When it’s the zombie Armageddon, it’s highly unlikely that you will have someone to hand weapons to you. Your solution? Bare hands. If you snap the neck of the zombie, its brain will stop controlling the body and effectively kill it. To do it, you must grip both sides of the zombie’s face, and with a quick strong movement snap its neck clockwise, or counterclockwise, if you favor your left. Cutting down its legs or arms can be a big advantage to achieve this. You can also do this with your thighs. Trap the zombie’s head while hanging on something and twist its head.

Pros: As long as you have thighs or hands, you can do this.

Cons: You need to be close range, and positioning is crucial.

Bricks, Rocks or Baseball Bat

Realistically speaking, the easiest weapon you’ll have at hand is a bludgeoning weapon. A baseball bat, a big rock or a brick can mean the difference between life and death. When attacking the zombie, aim for its head. You usually get just one chance with this unrefined weapon!

Pros: Easy to find anywhere and relatively easy to carry around.

Cons: Needs accuracy and strength to have an effect.

Machete or Ax

An axe or a machete are easier to find. Machetes can actually be used in trimming trees (so run to your neighbor’s shed to steal it) and axes can be found in most emergency fire toolboxes in buildings. Make sure that you are close enough to the zombie to lop its head clean off its body.

Pros: You don’t need to reload this weapon. Easy to carry and manipulate.

Cons: You need significant strength and speed to do the job cleanly. Short-range.

Chainsaw

A chainsaw is another weapon that may be relatively easier to find, especially if your locale depends on timber as its main product. While inaccurate, the chainsaw can very easily put a zombie down by cutting it apart. It can’t chase you without its legs now, can it?

Pros: No one can get close to you with this baby. No need to aim for the head, either.

Cons: Heavy and tricky to manipulate, if you’re not used to it. It also runs on gasoline, which may be a problem later on.

Lance or Spear

A lance or spear can be pretty useful. If you ever have one lying around in your house, you can use this. Stab the zombie in the upper head area and you’re golden. You can also use this to slash and bludgeon. You can also throw it from a distance, but you’ll have to retrieve it after.

Pros: Mid-range to long-range striking distance. Relatively easy to carry around. Does not require bullets or gasoline.

Cons: Can be problematic to carry or use in confined areas.

Gun or Shotgun

Guns or shotguns are the weapons of choice in most zombie movies and games, but not everyone has access to it. However, in a hurry, a gun is your best bet to get away.

Pros: Mid-range to long-range striking distance. Relatively easy to carry around.

Cons: Bullet-dependent. You also need how to aim so you wouldn’t waste your bullets.

Flamethrower

When in doubt, burn the zombies down. A flamethrower is a great way to stop a throng of zombies from chasing you.

Pros: Multiple strikes. Relatively easy manipulation. Long-range striking distance.

Cons: Gasoline-dependent. Heavy and can be difficult to carry around.
