How to Heal Mosquito Bites
Posted on May 26th, 2009 by CarmeliaMosquito bites can be a real annoyance to deal with. They’re itchy, scratchy and can last for days if you don’t treat them quickly. Here are a number of remedies to help heal those mosquito bites.
Home Remedy
Materials
- Pen
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 1 tablespoon water
- Bathing soap
- Small dish
- Rubbing alcohol
Procedure
- Clean the mosquito bite areas using soap and water. The soap will help with the itchy feeling.
- Mark the mosquito bite areas with a pen.
- Mix three tablespoons of baking soda and one tablespoon water on a small dish.
- Apply the baking soda paste on the mosquito bites. Do not rub it in your skin, instead simply placing it on top of the red bumps.
- Keep still for at least 15 minutes so the paste will have ample time to dry. Keep clothing away from the paste and the mosquito bite areas.
- The baking soda paste helps with the itching and draws out the toxins in the mosquito bites. It will also prevent further swelling or inflammation.
- Leave it as long as you can until the paste wears off on its own.
- Avoid scratching the mosquito bites. You will only make the swelling and itching worse.
- You can also use an ice pack or a cold compress on the mosquito bites for relief and to lessen inflammation.
- Applying rubbing alcohol on the mosquito bites also help get rid of the itching.
- Re-apply the baking soda paste again should the mosquito bites still feel irritated again during the day.
