Getting ringtones are great, but they can cost a pretty penny should you download them too much. Here are some things you can do to get free ringtones for your phone.

Download

  1. There are a lot of websites out there that offer free ringtones, but be careful in choosing one. You might end up with an unwanted virus or trojan. Myxertones.com is a good website to download free ringtones from.
  2. Create an account.
  3. Search for the songs you like to make ringtones of.
  4. The website will allow you to listen to the ringtone, and even let you customize the ringtone by choosing which part of the song you want to use. Click on the customize ringtone button and customize songs up to one minute.
  5. When you’re done, click “Send to phone”.
  6. The website will then send you a message on your cellphone. Open the message and download the customized ringtone in your phone.
  7. Go to settings and make use of the free ringtone.

Make Your Own

If you don’t want the hassle of signing up to some website for free ringtones, you can make them yourself instead. Here’s how.

  1. Download mp3 editor Audacity or AVS Audio Editor and install in your computer. Both programs come for free.
  2. Look for a song from your files that you would like to make a ringtone of.
  3. Import the song into the media editor.
  4. Start editing the song into the ringtone you want. You can even remix it entirely.
  5. Save the ringtone and export it into an mp3 file. Now that it’s an mp3 file, you can later on re-edit it as you like.
  6. You can upload it to your cellphone by using a USB cable, Bluetooth connection or via infrared connection.
  7. Go to your phone’s settings and set it as a ringtone. You can send it to your friends via email as well.
