Thanks to fast Internet connections and advancements in Web design, JavaScript is now a popular programming and design element found in many websites.  Animation, video, and multimedia is made possible with JavaScript.  Here are some tips to help you enable JavaScript on your browser.

What is JavaScript?

JavaScript is a language that creates and enables dynamic content (like animation and multimedia interfaces) on websites.  Dynamic content is used by many sites to make the browsing experience more enjoyable and more interactive.  JavaScript is popular among Web developers and programmers because it is very simple and easy to use.  Java also integrates seamlessly with HTML, which means that programmers and designers don’t have to take extra effort to create different, completely separate protocols to make dynamic content work in websites.

Enabling JavaScript

Browsers have JavaScript enabled by default, although some programs or network administrators may disable JavaScript as a security measure.  Here’s how to enable JavaScript for different browsers:

Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the “Tools” menu, and click “Internet Options.”
  2. Click on the “Advanced” tab.
  3. Scroll down the options until you see the “Java (Sun)” icon.  The check box named “Use JRE ### for <applet> (requires restart)” should be checked by default.  Click the check box to enable Java.
  4. Click OK, and restart Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Go to the “Tools” menu, and click on “Content.”
  2. Click “Enable JavaScript” if the check box is not activated.
  3. Click “Advanced” and tinker with the options to get the settings you need for browsing.
  4. Click OK, and restart Mozilla Firefox.

Opera

  1. Go to the “Tools” menu and click “Preferences” (or you can just press Ctrl + F12)
  2. Select the “Advanced” tab.
  3. Click “Content” on the page.  Click “Enable JavaScript” if it not checked.  You may also select some options on the “Java Script Options” menu.
  4. Click OK, and restart Opera.

JavaScript is a very cool and useful way to view and interact with dynamic content in websites.  With these tips, you can enable JavaScript on your browser to get the best browsing experience possible.
