How to Earn Girl Scout Badges

If you want to be a Girl Scout, check for this organization in your area and you’re sure to find a council near you. Here are a few things you need to know about Girl Scouts and how to earn Girl Scout badges.
Goals
Being a Girl Scout means trying to achieve the following goals.
- Enhance your potential.
- Have good relationships with others through respect and understanding.
- Acquire values that will help you make wise decisions.
- Develop skills you can use to build a better society.
There are different Girl Scout levels. Each level has its own name, insignia and activities. Members are assigned to a level depending on their age.
Daisies
- This is the organization’s first level.
- Kindergarten and first graders aged 5 to 6 are under this level.
- Daisies have an adult member to plan out their activities for them.
- They earn badges and patches by doing activities that is directed towards following the Girl Scout laws.
- Girls in this group follow activities listed on a book guide made for them.
- Daisies earn badges and patches in this level by accomplishing different activities listed in the book.
Brownies
- Girl scouts aged 7 to 10 are called brownies.
- This is the level where girls are encouraged to try new activities to further develop their skills.
- To earn badges and patches in this level, a brownie has to complete certain tasks that promote courage, character and confidence.
- There are different groups who plan activities that will help girls earn patches. An example of this group is world forestry center. Check out their website and do something good for the environment to earn a patch.
Juniors
- This group is composed of fourth and fifth graders aged 9 to 10.
- Their vests are colored green.
- You start wearing the official uniform when you reach this level.
- Like all the other levels, you also have to join certain activities to earn badges and patches.
- Junior activities require more skills than the previous levels.
- Reading your Junior Badge Book will help you have ideas on how to earn your badge.
- This is also the level where you may earn leadership and bronze award. This is the top award a junior girl scout can get.
Cadettes
- This level is for girls aged 11 to 13.
- Girls engage in interest projects and do activities listed on their Studio 2B booklets.
- Activities are more focused on discovering yourself and leading with confidence.
- Projects that will make you earn patches may take sometime to finish as it’s expected that you’ve improved on your skills from the previous levels.
Seniors
- Seniors are 9th and 10th graders.
- These girls do activities listed in the Senior Girl Scout handbook, but they may also use the Studio 2B focus booklets for cadettes.
- Activities in this level are directed towards being a good leader and counselor.
- As a senior, you are may earn the highest girl scout honor, the gold award.
Being a Girl Scout does not only mean that you get to earn different badges to wear on your uniform. Girl Scouting should build your character and make you better members of the society.
