Before a transaction is formalized, you should feel secure about the other party’s capabilities and sincerity. The background check comes as a measure to ascertain information regarding a person’s personal and professional history. Through it, you can adjudge if a client or applicant can deliver his or her end of the bargain. The background check is clearly an important tool for many endeavors. Here are some strategies on how to do it.

Check Social Networking Sites

Given the popularity of social networking sites, most people have an account in at least one of them.  Go to popular sites, like MySpace and Facebook, and search for the person you’re doing research on.  If he or she has a public profile, you’ll have a good idea on who that person really is.  You’ll see his or her educational background, professional background, attitude towards people, and interests.

If the profile is private, create dozens of fake accounts.  Set one of the accounts as the primary, as you add up all the other accounts as friends.  The primary fake account can either stand for a gorgeous member of the opposite sex or a group that most people will add as a friend, such as Beach Lovers, The Photography Circle, etc.  Invite the person you’re spying on as a friend.  The moment he or she adds you up, you can proceed with the background check.

Google that Person Up

Search the name, nickname, or email address of the person you’re looking for in a reputable search engine.  You might find websites that give away useful information about the person you’re doing a background check on.  If you don’t find a detailed profile, you can dig up on the company he or she is working for.  Research on the company’s legality and performance.  If you’re lucky, you may even find a section for employee profiles.

Compel the Person to Give Resources for the Background Check

For a transaction to take place, the requirements of both parties must be met.  Add the background check to one of your requirements.  You can ask the other party to give reliable contact information and inform him or her about the background check, which is done for verification purposes only.  If he or she doesn’t comply without a valid explanation, you shouldn’t trust that person. The deal’s off.

Department of Motor Vehicles

With a good excuse, you can view the driving profile of the person you’re checking out.  You can use the info stated on the form to adjudge the person or if it will lead to even more information on the internet.

Hire a Screening Firm

A screening firm specializes in determining the capabilities, attitude, and sometimes even the motives of people.  For about $30 - $50, you can hire them to do background checks on all incoming and suspicious employees.

If All Else Fails, Hire an Investigator

As you can see, you have all the possible means for you to check up on a prospective client, applicant, or even romantic partner.  Use any of those strategies wisely and the background check will be easy.  However, if none of them work, you still have one last option.  The truth rarely escapes from a good private investigator.
