How to Delete a Hotmail Account

An email address is often based on a personal monicker. As a person goes through life’s stages, many things change, including images and aliases. If you have outgrown the label indicated on your email address, you might as well delete your Hotmail account and create a new one. Canceling your account is simple. You have two options and both of them are easy to perform.

Through the Additional Options Menu

An email page contains several menus, which handle all sorts of features, including the deletion of your account. Your primary task is to look for the Additional Options menu. Once you click it, you’re almost done.

Procedure:

Sign in to your Hotmail account.
After signing in, view the upper right side of your screen then click Options.
Select More Options, which pulls up the Hotmail Options page.
Click on “View and edit your personal information.” A personal information page will, then, open.
On the bottom of the page, click on Close Account, which is found beneath the Additional Options menu.
Type in your password.
Click Yes, to confirm that you’re deleting your account.

Once your account has been deleted, do not sign in within 270 days, otherwise it will be reactivated. Just focus on using your other email accounts. If you want to cancel your Microsoft account subscription as well, contact Windows Billing at 866-672-455. You should cancel your subscription first, before deleting your Hotmail account, to avoid any additional charges.

Don’t Sign in

For free accounts, if you don’t sign in to your Hotmail account for a long time, it will eventually be closed. Microsoft will see the unused account, which takes up space in their systems, as vacated and deactivate it. Just inform your friends that you have stopped using your old address in favor of the new one.

Back Up All Important Info Before Deleting

You can delete your Hotmail account at any time, given your options. Make sure you have backed up all the important messages and information before deleting your account. Once your account has been canceled, recovering its contents is impossible.
