How to Delete a Facebook Account
Posted on June 15th, 2009 by ElaineFacebook is now the hippest, most widely-used social networking site available, with millions of users all over the world. Oftentimes though, many users feel the need to delete their Facebook account, either because it’s becoming too cluttered, they have stalkers, or because it’s becoming too much of a distraction. If you’re one of these people, don’t fret because you can easily delete your account.
What You’ll Need:
- PC
- Internet connection
- Facebook account
Method One
- Sign in to Facebook and make sure you delete all the vital information. Delete all your inbox and outbox messages, photos, friends, contact information (e-mail, telephone and mobile numbers). Remove everything that’s connected to you in your page.
- Go to the home page’s bottom and look for “help”. This will lead you to the help center.
- When you’re in the help center, skip over the options, then go to “Permanently delete”. You can find this at the number three among the help options list. Find it at the right part of the help center page.
- Follow the steps given. This usually requires you to type your log in information, password, as well as a catcha.
- Prevent from logging into to your Facebook account for the next 14 days. Your account will be completely deleted. If you change your mind, though, just log in before the 14 day-period is over. Your account will be reactivated.
Method Two
- Check that your Facebook account has a contact e-mail address (G-mail or Yahoomail are good options). Remove other high school, college or work e-mail address listed in your account.
- Go to Settings and deactivate your account.
- Register another e-mail address, different from the contact e-mail you gave.
- When you sign in to the new Facebook account, add the contact e-mail address to the account. Then, open the sent confirmation e-mail. When you do this, your old account will be deleted, making it inaccessible.
Aside from these, there’s also a form that you can easily submit to the Facebook team, which will allow them to delete your account fully. You can try that, otherwise, turn to either of these methods.
