Are you always envious of movie stars who have that flirtatious look in their eyes? It’s not just their makeup or their contact lenses, but because of how their eyelashes curl. Any gal dreams of having perfectly curled eyelashes, but unfortunately, not everyone has this beauty feature. If you’re dying to have this lovely feature, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to curl eyelashes.

Using An Eyelash Curler

This is the quickest and most conventional way of curling eyelashes. It can be tricky, but once properly performed, it gives the best outcome.

What You’ll Need

  • Makeup remover
  • Cotton or facial tissue
  • Eyelash curler
  • Hair dryer
  • Facial soap
  • Water
  • Clean towel

Procedure

  1. Dab a small amount of makeup remover on some cotton or tissue, and carefully apply it all over your face to remove traces of makeup. Old makeup can create a messy look, and can gum up your eyelash curler.
  2. Wash your face using the soap and water. Make sure you wash thoroughly, to remove any trace of makeup you might have missed and eliminating makeup remover residue. These can also prevent your lashes from getting a good curl.
  3. Get the hairdryer, turn it to the lowest heat setting. Point it towards the eyelash curler, to heat it. If your curler is warm, the curl sets faster and lasts longer.
  4. Once the curler is hot, hold it in one hand, in the same way that you hold a pair of scissors. Your hand should rest beneath the curling bar, while the curler is positioned upright. The curler’s curve must be facing upwards.
  5. Open the eyelash curler and bring it near your upper lashes, carefully doing so. Position your upper eyelashes very gently at the mid-point, just between the curling blades. make sure you’re holding the curler straight, so it’ll catch the lashes at an equal distance from its base.
  6. As you carefully close the curler on the lashes, examine the grip. If you don’t think it’s sufficient, open the blades and adjust the curler, repositioning it. As soon as you’re satisfied, squeeze the handles tightly, and hold for several seconds. Don’t blink while doing this.
  7. Release the curler, and examine the curl you’ve made. If you’re not satisfied repeat curling. If you find it sufficient already, repeat the steps on the other eye.

Curling Without An Eyelash Curler

For those who don’t like using eyelash metal contraptions to curl their lashes, here’s a good tactic to try.

What You’ll Need

  • Mascara
  • Your fingers
  • Hairdryer

Procedure

  1. Put on mascara, as you normally do. Don’t let it dry.
  2. Make your fingers warm by rubbing them together. You can also hold them over a fire or point a hairdryer at them.
  3. Touch your fingertips roughly, in a lined and pointed-up position, to your upper eyelashes. Push downwards, and hold this position for at least three minutes.
  4. You may need to repeat the steps until you reach the curl you want.

Other Curling Tips

  • To keep your eyes moist, close them for a few seconds before you begin the curling procedure. If yuor eyes are properly moist, you won’t get the urge to blink.
  • Don’t put the eyelash curler near your eye or eyelid, or you might accidentally touch your skin. This can be very painful, especially if your curler is hot.
  • Experiment with different curls, and find the most ideal look for your face shape. To achieve extra curl, reposition the curler, and curl in two to three places on the eyelashes. Doing the curl more than once also givers you extra curl.
  • If you’re trying the no-curler technique, warm your fingers by dipping them into hot water for 15 seconds. The warmer your fingers become, the more effective and faster the curl holds.
  • The palm of your hand can work just as well as your fingertips.
  • It’s okay if you don’t use mascara, but this might cause the curl to last shorter.
  • Practice. Curling can be tedious at first, but doing it over and over can give you the perfectly curled lashes you want.

Flirtatious-looking curly eyelashes are a must for any glamorous gal. To achieve this look, just try these tactics above, whichever suits you better. You’ll be pleased with the results.
