- Put a few tablespoons of cooking oil in the frying pan.
- While waiting for the pan to heat up, use your potato ricer to remove moisture from the grated potatoes. If you don’t have a potato ricer, you can use a paper towel to get rid of the moisture. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
- When the pan is ready, put the grated potatoes in, spreading it properly. Your hash brown should only be about half an inch thick.
- Add some salt and pepper.
- Carefully lift the edge of your hash brown to check if it’s cooked.
- When the bottom of the potato is golden brown already, use your spatula to flip the hash brown. Using a large spatula will help you easily flip the whole hash brown, but you can also cut it in half or smaller and lift each parts one at a time.
- Continue cooking the other side until it turns golden brown.
- When your hash brown is ready, remove it from the pan and serve.

Tips:
- If you don’t have time to prepare your hash browns, there are those precooked hash browns you can buy. All you have to do is fry them whenever you want to.
- When serving, you can put a paper towel on the plate so the towel can absorb the oil from the hash brown.
- Apart from salt and pepper, other people use applesauce, hot sauce, sour cream, and ketchup for their hash browns.
- Hash browns are commonly served with sausages, eggs, and slices of bread.
