How to Clear Your Browser’s Cache

Browsing the internet sure is fun and informative.  Unknown to some, it can gradually slow down your internet connection.  How? Your browser automatically stores details of websites, so the page loads faster the next time you visit.  If those stored files reach a sizable amount, it takes up much space, slowing down your computer in the process.  As a frequent internet user, you should clear the browser’s cache, occasionally.

Clearing the Mozilla Firefox Cache

Mozilla is currently one of the most preferred browsers available.  It is fast, user friendly and ensures a secure connection.  With removing temporary internet files, Firefox holds true to its reputation.  You can clear the cache in just a few clicks.

Procedure:

  1. Open your Firefox browser.
  2. On the top portion of your screen, click on Tools, which pulls up a menu.
  3. Select Clear Private Data.
  4. Place a check in the box beside Cache.  Mark also the items that you want to clear.
  5. Click Clear Private Data Now.

After clearing the cache, you will notice that some websites will take a little longer than usual to load, since the temporary internet files have been deleted.  Don’t be alarmed.  The next time you return to that site the loading speed will be much faster.

Clearing the Internet Explorer 7 Cache

Internet Explorer, for several years, was the most reputable internet browser until Firefox came into the picture.  The browser, nonetheless, promotes fast and easy surfing, with some neat features.  Removing temporary internet files is pretty simple.  You just have to delve into the Tools menu and delete the browsing history.

Procedure:

  1. Open the IE-7 browser.
  2. Click the Tools menu, which pulls up a menu.
  3. Select Delete Browsing History.
  4. On the next screen, click the Delete Files button beside Temporary Internet Files.  A small screen will then appear.
  5. Click Yes.

After clearing the cache, you can also clear the other temporary browsing data by clicking Delete Files for each of them.  You will then experience why IE-7 is Firefox’s close competitor.

Ideally, the browser’s cache should be cleared once a week, especially if you’re a heavy internet user.  The practice helps you maximize the storage and overall capabilities of your computer and browser.
