How to Cleanse Your Face
Posted on October 7th, 2009 by CarmeliaCleansing your face is an essential part of a healthy skin regimen. If you hate having dull, pimply and uneven skin, then you have to cleanse your face regularly. Here’s how you can cleanse your face.
Tools
- Water basin
- Kettle
- Acne cleanser
- Soft, clean face towel
- Skin toner
- Cotton ball
- Face moisturizer
- Towel
- Facial scrub
- Facial mask
Procedure
- Boil some water in a kettle. Pour the hot water into a water basin, and steam your face with the steam coming up from the water. Put a towel over your head to form a tent over basin. Don’t hold your face too close to the water. Let your face be steamed for five to ten minutes. This will open your pores and make for a thorough cleansing.
- Throw away the hot water.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with hand soap.
- Splash some room-temperature water on your face to get it wet.
- Put some facial cleanser on your fingertips and apply it to your face. Gently massage it on your skin, not pressing too hard. Avoid getting cleanser into your eyes. If it does, flush it out with running water immediately. A word about facial cleansers: It may take some trial and error in getting a facial cleanser that works for you. A good way to start when it comes to choosing facial cleansers is to find one that matches your skin type, or at least is specially formulated to target specific skin problems, such as acne, oiliness, dryness or all of the above.
- Rinse your face thoroughly, ensuring that you’ve removed the cleanser. Dried cleanser that’s left on your face could end up irritating your skin.
- Pat your face dry with a soft, clean face towel. Pat, don’t rub. Rubbing could irritate your skin and cause it to age faster.
- Use a cotton ball or a cotton pad and apply some facial toner on it. Facial toner helps cleanse the skin more thoroughly and helps even out the skin. Let the toner air dry.
- Apply facial moisturizer all over your face, and eye moisturizer under your eyes and your eyelids. This will restore the moisture you lost when cleaning your skin.
- Clean your face more thoroughly by using a facial scrub and a facial mask at least once a week. This will help remove the dead skin cells that have accumulated on the surface of your skin, and which can cause acne breakout.
