Due to its efficient service, easy usability and convenience, Hotmail has remained as one of the most popular web mail programs. Even with its efficiency, you still need to make sure your e-mail is always protected, so you have to change your Hotmail password regularly. Here’s how to do it.

What You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Hotmail password

Procedure:windows live hotmail

  1. Log in to your Hotmail account. You can do this whether your home screen is Windows Live’s “Today” screen or your inbox. If you are on the Window’s Live screen, check the upper right corner where your name is. Under it, there’s a tab marked “Options”, and an arrow beside it. Click it. A drop-down menu will open, with various choices, including “More Options”.
  2. Click on “More Options”. You will go to a new page with various hotmail options, such as editing your profile or changing what appears in your Windows Live Home. Choose the one labeled “View and Edit your personal information”, found under “Manage your account”.
  3. When you go to the next section, go to “Password Reset Information”. You”ll see “Password: ********”, and beside it, there’s a blue hyperlink that says “Change”. Click this.
  4. Enter your old password, then your new one. You’ll be asked to do this two times.
  5. Click on “Save”. You’ll be redirected to the “Manage your account” page. At the top, a blue box will appear with the words “Your information has been saved.”

A Few Tips

  • Pick a password that bears no resemblance to your name or your e-mail address. For example, if your address is thomasjohn@hotmail.com, don’t use “thomas” as a password.
  • When you reset your password, the password-reset function has a strength meter that states how weak or strong your new password is. It will warn you if the password you picked is too weak.
  • Hotmail passwords are case-sensitive, so check if caps lock is on or off before doing any password resetting.

Your Hotmail e-mail will always be useful, as long as it’s well-protected. Change your password regularly, and you’ll have no problem with your account.
