How To Buy A Christmas Gift For Your Boyfriend
Posted on January 1st, 2009 by monsterguideFor women, buying the perfect Christmas gift for their boyfriends is not as easy as going to a clothes shop and buying the first nice jacket they see. If you’re one of those girls who has trouble deciding what to get their significant other for Christmas, then read on.
Guy Gifts: Guidelines
If your boyfriend really loves you, he would say that it really doesn’t matter what you buy for him; it will always be the best. However, everyone knows that men really want something they can hold and touch and preferably something that is definitely masculine. Here are some things to keep in mind when searching for that elusive gift.
- Think about what he likes. You don’t want to buy a gift that he won’t be able to connect to. For example, if he likes sports, then it is probably a good idea to give him a VIP ticket to a game of his favorite sports team, or maybe a ball so he can enjoy a game with his friends. If he’s the video gamer type of guy, then he will surely love the latest video game title that’s getting rave reviews.
- Focus on gifts that are within your budget. Given the recent economic problems the whole world seems to be in, money has become much more of an issue when buying things, especially something not as essential, such as gifts. Choose something that’s within your budget and discard anything that goes beyond it, no matter how great or appropriate. Nowadays, there are so many options available, plus so many ways to comparion-shop, that you don’t have to shell out too much of your hard-earned cash.
- Just because you like it doesn’t mean he will. Guys are more firm about what they like; essentially, they are more prone to be dominated by their machismo ego. A typical guy may agree with you that something is cute but there is no way he would want it anywhere near him for fear of being branded as soft. Don’t give your guy stuffed toys, a cute dog, or anything that has frills or lace, unless you wear it.
- Most of the time, if it looks good, it’s okay. Guys don’t care for brands. They don’t really care if that particular shirt is made by Giorgo Armani or some dressmaker from down the street; as long as it looks cool or great on them, they will take it. If you’re on a tight budget and he’s really not expecting anything more than your presence on Christmas, then this little tidbit of info should come in handy. This rule doesn’t apply to car stereos or power equipment though; those areas are their domains, and they know what’s what here.
What Not To Give
While most guys don’t normally fuss around with gifts as much as girls do, there are things they would rather be dead than be caught having. Among these are:
- Stuffed toys
- Partner shirts, i.e., His and Her shirts
- Romantic or really sappy DVDs
- A bouquet of flowers, especially if they’re given in front of their guy friends
- Anything that will remind him of your ex-boyfriends
It may be hard to buy a good gift for your boyfriend but in all seriousness, there is only one thing most guys want from their girlfriends: their presence. Since Christmas is the time to be with your loved ones, do exactly just that and spend the holiday with him. It might probably be the best Christmas gift you will ever give.
