How to Build Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is one of the greatest blessings a person can enjoy. Without self-confidence we can never be sure of ourselves and the decisions we make. Even minor decisions like changing bedclothes could become difficult without self-confidence. It is not difficult to build self-confidence; however, it cannot be developed overnight. Here are some tips that will help you build self-confidence.

What you need:

  • Strong motivation to improve yourself.

Instructions:

  1. First, acknowledge your fears and insecurities.

  2. Bring to the foreground emotions and thoughts that are always present at the back of your mind.
  3. Never be ashamed of yourself.
  4. Talk to your friends and loved ones about the problems that are troubling you.
  5. Focus on the things that are creating problems for you and then try to find a way to solve these problems.
  6. Don’t feel ashamed to ask for help.
  7. Always keep in mind that nobody is perfect. Even that supermodel or handsome football player has insecurities.
  8. When you succeed in something, enjoy it to its fullest. Go out for coffee with your friends or plan a dinner with your loved ones. Anything you like to do will make you happy.
  9. Discover your talents and then focus on them.
  10. Look at the problems that people are facing around you and then thank God for all the blessings He has showered on you.
  11. Appreciating what you have will help you fight the dissatisfaction that has been building up deep inside you.
  12. Never fall victim to self-pity. You are no less than others.
  13. Find positive aspects of every situation you find yourself in.
  14. Don’t let others pity you; this will only lower your self-esteem and self-confidence.
  15. Try to smile as much as possible. A smile will add to your confidence. People are always appreciative of a smile.
  16. Act confident in every situation. This will help you to believe that you are in control of the situation. Initially you might have to fake it, but with the passage of time the need to fake it will disappear.

Hmm, I always assumed ’self’-confidence came from within, from the ’self’ as it were.

If one assumes that some higher power is dishing out all one’s successes and ‘blessings’, then someone with low self-confidence will probably struggle to feel motivated to take any action themselves.
