How to Bookmark a Webpage in Firefox
Posted on April 26th, 2009 by MarckMozilla Firefox is a very popular Internet browser because of its speed, convenience, and ease of use. Like many other browsers, Firefox makes it possible for you to bookmark pages for your ready reference and access later on. Here are easy ways and tips for you to bookmark Web pages in Firefox.
Bookmarking a Page
Think of the Internet as a giant book where you can place bookmarks on pages you find interesting, important, or essential. Firefox provides you with some easy ways to bookmark pages:
- Menu bar. From the Menu bar, click “Bookmarks,” and highlight and click “Bookmark This Page.”
- Shortcut key. If you browse a lot, a handy shortcut key to remember is Ctrl+D. The shortcut key performs the same function as clicking through the menu bar.
- Dragging a tab to the Bookmarks toolbar. Firefox is very well-liked because of its tabbed browsing functionality. Simply drag the tab into the Bookmarks toolbar below the search bar.
Bookmarking Tips
Bookmarking pages is great, but you may end up having more bookmarks than you actually need. Here are some tips to make bookmarking pages more effective and efficient:
- Organize your bookmarks. Take some time out from browsing every now and organize your bookmarks. You can access the Bookmarks Library from the Bookmarks menu, or press Ctrl+Shift+B.
- Bookmark specific pages. Instead of bookmarking home pages, it’s better to bookmark specific pages. Specific pages are especially useful for academic tasks, because it makes referring to pages and quoting specific Web sources faster and easier.
- Importing bookmarks. If you just installed Firefox and are planning to move or copy your bookmarks from another browser (for example, Internet Explorer), use the Import Bookmarks function of Internet Explorer. From the Menu Bar, click on File, and choose the Import option. Follow the instructions on the screen for Firefox to automatically retrieve bookmarks from your other browsers to Firefox.
Bookmarks make it very easy for you to refer to frequently-visited pages, or reference pages that have long URLs. With these tips, recalling frequently-visited links and pages should no longer be a problem.
