What is Bollywood?
Bollywood is the common name used for the Hindi-language film industry. The industry showcases India’s art, culture and fashion. Dancing plays a very important role in their movies. These dance routines depict diverse subjects that range from simple life affairs to the more complex ones like love and heroism. Their dance is now popularly known as bollywood dance. Today, bollywood dances not only use the traditional dhol, a barrel-shaped drum, for accompaniment, but it’s now also integrated with western influences. People from different age groups and of different genders can bollywood dance. There are no age restrictions. As long as you have a sense of rhythm and can bust a move, you’re good to go.

- Before you begin any work out, you have to warm yourself up and stretch your muscles to avoid strain or any injury while doing the dance routine.
- For beginners, you can try the bhangra dance. This 4/4 beat routine is made up of a series of hand-clapping, wrist-twisting, kicking and shoulder-shrugging.
- If you want to try more complex dance steps, it is best to enroll in a dance class where choreographers are there to teach you variety of dances and the right way of performing these steps.
- You can also buy videos of bollywood dances and learn them in the comfort of your home, at your own pace and time.
Bollywood dancing is a fun way to work out, but apart from making you physically fit, it also introduces you to a different, fascinating and exquisite culture.
