- In a mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together to make the ribs’ dry rub.
- Rub the mixture all over the ribs, making sure that you cover all the nooks and crannies.
- After rubbing the dry ingredients on the ribs, cover the dish with saran wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Set the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit or 149 degrees Celsius.
- Put the racks into the oven and let bake for two hours. Monitor the heat and do not let it change. Slow cooking is the best way to make this dish more flavorful and tender.
Grilling the Ribs
- Prepare the grill. Many people make the mistake of grilling the barbecue ribs in direct heat. There are several methods you can try when it comes to grilling the barbecue ribs.
- One method is the indirect heating method. This means that the ribs are put one one side of the grill while the charcoal burns on the other side.
- If you’re using a charcoal grill, another method is to wood chips soaked in water and added with the charcoal. This will also give the meat that smoky flavor.
- Maintain a temperature of 200 to 225 F in the interior of your grill. Remember, the best way to barbecue the ribs slow and steady.
- Don’t put the barbecue sauce early on in while grilling! Instead, opt for a mixture of paprika, water and other seasonings like vinegar to use as a baste. Apply this on the meat to retain moisture and flavor, and to prevent the meat from burning too quickly. You can use a spray bottle or a kitchen brush to apply it to the ribs every now and then.
- Put the barbecue sauce right before you remove the heat from the fire.
