Do you love hummingbirds and wish they would visit your garden more often? The surest way to get hummingbirds in your garden is to make it infinitely more attractive to them compared to anywhere else. Here’s how.

Hummingbird Feeder

Putting up a feeder where they can eat and drink is probably the best way to attract hummingbirds in your garden. Hummingbirds typically migrate to the North America area in the warmer seasons such as the end of spring and summer. Put them up five or ten days before you think they’ll arrive, so that they have a better chance of discovering your feeder.

Make sure that the feeder that you use can be protected against ants, especially if you plan to use some homemade hummingbird feed, which includes sugar in the ingredients! Some stores offer hummingbird feeders that have built-in ant protection.

Change the feeder and clean up the nectar every three to four days, especially during the warmer seasons. Put away your hummingbird feeder if you have not seen a hummingbird for two weeks. This is a sign that they have already migrated.

Placing the feeder near plants or a basket of flowers attractive to hummingbirds is also a very good idea to attract them more.

4 parts water
1 part sugar

Boil for one to two minutes and keep in the refrigerator. Change the nectar in your feeder regularly.
