Being disabled brings you certain privileges from the government, one of them is social security disability.  Social security disability gives the disabled additional income, which is a big boost to anyone’s budget.  Such a privilege is clamored for by many, even the non-disabled, which is why the qualifications are strict.  With comprehensive supporting documents and the approval of your doctor, you stand a good chance of qualifying for social security disability.

Secure Forms for Social Security Disability and Private Insurance Disability

Private insurance disability and social security disability offer cash benefits to privilege holders, though the income given by private insurance is ideally lower.  You should apply for both privileges to maximize the amount of benefits that you’re set to receive.  Request a form each from Social Security and your insurance company.  View and review the forms, so you will know how to answer them properly.

The Doctor’s Approval

Securing a doctor’s approval gives an instant edge to your application, since it clearly proves your inability to work.  Visit your doctor and tell him or her that you plan to apply for disability, so he or she can ascertain the extent of your condition.  If the doctor finds out you’re unfit to work, given your condition, you’re in business.  If not, explain to your doctor the nature of your work thoroughly and how your disability affects your production of work outputs to get his or her approval.  Your doctor will then write a letter and provide supporting documents for your application.

Maintain a Daily Journal of Your Disability

Write about your daily experiences, particularly how your disability affects your everyday life.  Make the entries descriptive, capturing your every challenge with your condition.  Ideally, the entries should be touching but don’t overdo it, otherwise the plan might backfire.  Keep your entries clear and free from vagueness, so your disability can be classified easily by the screeners.

Prepare a Medicine and Therapy List

A detailed list of medicine and therapies that you have taken and continue to take is essential for your application.  Screeners will have an idea on the gravity of your disability just by viewing the list.  Bring prescriptions and if possible, receipts, to stamp the list’s validity.

Bring a Companion

Having a companion, preferably an assistant, can increase your chances of qualifying for the disability privilege.  If the screener sees that you need a companion’s assistance to do normal activities, your application may receive merit.

As a disabled person, you have rights to improve your living condition.  Social security disability and private insurance disability come as your saving graces.  Use the five strategies presented accordingly, so you can get some financial relief, amidst your condition.
